Modern young man Sun Xiaokong traveled to the world of Journey to the West after a car accident and found that he had become Sun Wukong who was trapped under the Five Elements Mountain. He inherited the memory and abilities of the Monkey King, but retained the thinking of modern people. Guanyin Bodhisattva appears and tells Sun Xiaokong that he must complete his mission to obtain scriptures from the West in order to gain true freedom. He also hints that his time travel is not accidental, but has a deeper cause and effect. The young monk Tang Sanzang removed the Buddhist stickers on Five Elements Mountain and released Sun Xiaokong. When the two met for the first time, they clashed due to differences in ideas. Sun Xiaokong was full of doubts and disdain for this "master". Tang Sanzang recited the Tightening Curse under the guidance of Guanyin, which taught the rebellious Sun Xiaokong the first lesson, forcing him to admit the relationship between master and apprentice, but Sun Xiaokong was still full of resistance in his heart. Reluctantly, Sun Xiaokong followed Tang Seng on the westward journey, secretly thinking about how to get rid of control, but he did not know that he was about to face greater challenges and identity crises.
