In the Great Yong Dynasty, a breathtaking battle between good and evil unfolds. Regent Gu Chengyu and Shen Zhaozhao, an extraordinary woman with Yin-Yang Eyes, join forces to turn the tide and fight back against the evil assault of the Shadow Alliance.
The Shadow Alliance schemes to undo the seal on the Qian Kun Sealing Pendant and unleash the evil power within to overthrow Great Yong. First, they sow chaos in the capital, using rumors that the emperor is gravely ill to stir up the people. The court officials become suspicious of one another, and endless arguments break out. As regent, Gu Chengyu relies on his wisdom and courage to navigate the competing factions and stabilize the court.
Meanwhile, Gu Chengyu and Shen Zhaozhao embark on a grueling quest to find three ancient keys. They cross a mysterious desert, venture deep into the mist-shrouded Valley of Mists, climb the eerie Sunset Peak, and journey to the far northern ice fields. Danger lurks at every turn. They must contend not only with treacherous terrain and harsh conditions, but also battle powerful fantasy creatures such as the guardian qilin and the flaming phoenix, as well as the Shadow Alliance's minions.
On Sunset Peak, Shen Zhaozhao and the experts from the Lingxiao Pavilion encounter black-robed figures performing an evil ritual. The figures attempt to summon the flaming phoenix to stop them, and the two sides engage in a fierce battle. Using their wits and courage, Shen Zhaozhao and the others defeat the black-robed figures and claim one of the ancient keys.
In the Valley of Mists, Gu Chengyu and the others work together to defeat the guardian qilin and find another key. At last, they discover the third key in a secret royal tomb in the far northern ice fields.
With all three ancient keys in hand, they perform the sealing ritual at the royal altar. But the surviving forces of the Shadow Alliance make one last desperate bid to seize the keys.
