A promise shattered by time, two souls reunited in a dream
When Su Wan was three, her mother's blood stained her white princess dress, and her father snuffed out the last of her childhood. Then, at her fifth birthday party, eleven-year-old Sheng Nian appeared with a crystal bracelet. The boy who would crouch down to wipe away her tears became the first ray of light to reach into the abyss.
Fate has a way of leaving behind beautiful wreckage. The seven-year promise Sheng Nian made before leaving eventually came due in the form of a car accident. After waking, the botany professor had forgotten everything, yet night after night he dreamed of a girl in a white dress standing among the orchids, its hem stained with faded blood.
When Su Wan sees that familiar face on her university campus, she hurries to escape. Sheng Nian, standing at the lectern, looks at the girl below him, her eyes full of hatred, and suddenly feels a sharp pain in his heart. The feeling is just like what he feels in his dreams, watching that girl gather broken orchids in the pouring rain.
Later, she and he resolve what happened to her mother, and in a dream, she recognizes who he is again. But who is she?
"You taught me that broken flowers can't grow new shoots."
"What if I piece all the memories back together?"
The crystal bracelet hidden in a tree hollow sees daylight once more, and the childish handwriting on the yellowed note begins to breathe. When Sheng Nian takes Su Wan back to her grandmother's old home, the orchids throughout the garden rustle beneath the moonlight. The promises crushed by time are taking root and budding, growing from dreams into reality...
