After falling off a cliff, Shen Mo transmigrates into another world. Having lost his memory, he is rescued by the kindhearted young woman Lin Wan'er. He thinks he can live quietly in seclusion, but instead gets caught up in a plague and a deadly pursuit by shadow guards. The jade pendant on his chest suddenly awakens, and a flood of memories surges into his mind. To his shock, he discovers that he is Bai Muyun, a brilliant man from the Southern Liang who disappeared many years ago!
Even more unsettling, a breathtakingly beautiful figure appears in his memories: the eldest princess of Northern Wei, the current empress, Qiu Ruoli! She was Bai Muyun's beloved, but also the spy responsible for the fall of Southern Liang. Love and hatred, loyalty and betrayal intertwine in a past stained with blood and tears.
[Ding! Main quest: Uncover the truth behind Qiu Ruoli's fall into darkness!]
[Ding! Side quest: Protect Lin Wan'er and investigate the secrets of her family and the jade pendant!]
[Ding! Hidden quest: Restore Southern Liang, but never at the cost of innocent lives!]
Shen Mo struggles in the abyss between love and hate. On one side is Lin Wan'er's gentle companionship; on the other, his fateful entanglement with Qiu Ruoli. He plans his every move, navigating the Prince of Zhennan's manor and working with Chen Yanqiu, a former Southern Liang loyalist, all to find a path through this troubled era that stays true to his heart and does right by the people. But when he reunites with Qiu Ruoli on the battlefield, how will he choose when faced with that familiar yet strange face? Revenge, or redemption?
* Goals: Recover his memories, uncover the truth, find the treasure, and (against his will) save the people, all while facing off against his wife from his previous life, now the Northern Wei princess who is ten years older than him and later becomes empress.
