[Naive legitimate daughter vs. charming general + mutual devotion + devoted to each other alone + slow-burn romance + happy ending]
Huo Shuning is forced to marry a wastrel, but after entering the palace, she discovers that there may be more to this man’s background than meets the eye.
When news arrives that the emperor has died and the new emperor personally leads troops in search of someone, she finally realizes that the man who spends his days frequenting flower houses is a powerful ally worth clinging to!
(I came up with the premise for this book back in middle school. The writing style is rather old-fashioned, and the content is quite tame, so read with that in mind.)
