Mu Xi was born into the world of cultivation, blessed from birth with a supreme lightning spirit root rarely seen in ten thousand years. But her gift made her a target, and as a child she fled across the land with her parents. After joining the Sword-Seeking Sect, she discovered that her spirit root was connected to the legacy of an ancient Thunder God. Stranger still, she often dreamed of a girl who looked just like her: Lin Qingyue, the legitimate daughter of the Lin family of Yong'an Continent. The purple mark on Lin Qingyue's forehead resonated with the lightning in Mu Xi's dantian.
During an expedition into a secret realm, Mu Xi accidentally triggered an ancient game of Go, and the twin sisters finally met. They learned that they were twin artifact spirits born from the Thunder God's sword: one wielded the power of thunder's judgment, while the other could divine the workings of fate. The truth behind the fact that no one had ascended in five thousand years was that a heavenly demon was devouring the world, and the road to immortality had been severed!
The Misty Sect had secretly allied with the heavenly demons, hoping to sacrifice a Chaos Spirit Body and open a passage to the demon realm. Their parents, reincarnations of guardians of the Thunder God Hall, had spent a thousand years plotting at the cost of their lives. The Azure Dragon's reverse scale hidden in the heart of their watch-faced master held the last glimmer of hope...
When the blood-red moon rose, Mu Xi and Lin Qingyue joined their swords, and a tribulation of heavenly lightning tore open the sky.
“Who says the road to immortality is severed? Today, my sister and I will use the Thunder God's legacy to rebuild the stairway to heaven!”
