Rule Parasite

Qian Ye first cleared a rules-based horror game on a subway at midnight.

"No loud talking, but you must answer the station attendant's questions."

"Passengers must not count the train cars. Violators are responsible for the consequences."

When inhuman limbs reached out from beneath the station attendant's uniform, Qian Ye plunged his knife into the arm of the passenger sitting beside him.

Back in the real world, the news reported that a local resident had mysteriously suffered a puncture wound through his arm.

Trembling, he reached into his pocket. The bloodstained rule slip had somehow gained new words in the real world:

"Congratulations on clearing the game. Someone else will pay the price."
