You Are Where It Begins, and Where I Return

[A pampered childhood sweetheart + A childhood friend whose mouth is harder than a duck’s backside + A little angst + Happy ending]

Xiao Yuchen and Su Wan grew up together. From childhood, Su Wan was certain Xiao Yuchen would be her future husband, but he always thought she was simply too immature. Su Wan confessed to him countless times, and he rejected her every time. Even on the day she received her admission letter, she confessed to Xiao Yuchen again and was turned down once more. This time, Su Wan decided to let go for good and resolutely went abroad to study. But then Xiao Yuchen regretted it and began a whole campaign to win her back.

He drank himself senseless every day, until he was throwing up blood from a stomach bleed.

“Wanwan, where on earth are you?”

Her calls went unanswered, and he got no replies to his messages.

During a video call, he asked, “Auntie Shen, where’s Wanwan?”

Shen Mingyue posted a group photo, and Xiao Yuchen secretly cropped out everyone else, leaving only Su Wan making a silly face. Then he set it as his screensaver.

Later, when Su Wan returned to the country, she started coming home more often and even stopped going to work, showing up late and leaving early every day. When he heard she had moved out, he bought the house across from hers. Knowing Su Wan couldn’t cook, he made meals to tempt her over, claiming he was just looking after her. When Su Wan avoided seeing him, Xiao Yuchen used the dog as an excuse to lure her over.

“Wanwan, I’m pretty busy these days. Could you come over and look after Xiaorourou for me?”

“Wanwan, Xiaorourou only lets the two of us get close. Could I trouble you to...”

In fact, he’d installed cameras in private, so he watched everything Su Wan and Xiaorourou did together.

Xiao’s mother: “Back then, he kept saying she was just like a little sister to him. Now he says he’ll never marry anyone but her.” (Rolls her eyes skyward.) This guy is so sneaky! If he’d done all this from the start, would his future daughter-in-law have run away?
