This is the follow-up experience of Tang Monk and his disciples who embarked on the road back to the Tang Dynasty after obtaining the scriptures from Leiyin Temple in Lingshan. Tathagata Buddha was worried that they would not be able to preserve the scriptures because they had killed a lot of lives in the past and violated Buddhist rules, so he took away the golden cudgel and other weapons. Also, because Sun Wukong mentioned using cunning to deal with evil thoughts, fearing that he would change, he sent monks and Lingxuzi to secretly escort them, and gave them 88 bodhi beads and wooden fish clappers to help master and disciples purify their hearts and drive away evil spirits. On the way back, the four masters and disciples were repeatedly coveted by monsters. These monsters no longer coveted Tang Monk's flesh, but tried to rob the scriptures. They successively encountered various evil spirits such as beetles, frog monsters, and python spirits, and faced many difficulties and obstacles. Although Sun Wukong lost his golden cudgel, he still led his junior brothers to fight wits and courage with the monsters with the help of "year-old opportunities". After going through many hardships, Sun Wukong finally realized that the scheming heart is the source of all demons, so he destroyed the scheming heart and followed the true scripture. In the end, the four masters and apprentices successfully brought the scripture back to Datang and completed their mission.
