My Wife's Asleep, So I'm Taking Our Son Out for Skewers

Xu Mingchuan, a successful businessman, finds his wife asleep and quietly takes their six-year-old son, Xu Xiaoman, out to fulfill their "manly promise": eating skewers late at night. Their outing reveals the little secrets and warm interactions between father and son.

Through several flashbacks, we see the sweet story of Xu Mingchuan and his wife, Su Wanqing, from falling in love at university to getting married and having a child, as well as their journey building an advertising company together. At kindergarten, Xu Xiaoman cleverly resolves a conflict between classmates, showing an emotional intelligence and wisdom beyond his years, the result of his parents' example and their democratic approach to parenting. When Xu Mingchuan's company faces a major crisis, the whole family pulls together. Even Xiaoman contributes the money from his piggy bank, and together they make it through. On Xu Mingchuan's birthday, his wife and son carefully plan an unusual surprise, bringing the family's happiness to a peak and showing the deep love and understanding they share.
