Scars of the Five Elements

Eighty years after the old world was destroyed, survivors in Purification Year 80 have built a fractured civilization on the radioactive wasteland. Rockfort City, one of humanity’s three major settlements, uses towering concrete walls to keep out external contamination. Inside the walls, however, the wealth gap is vast, and people at the bottom get by on moldy “relief rations.” The emergence of the Awakened has upset the delicate balance. These special humans, who inherit the power of the Five Elements, have abilities that are initially no stronger than fireflies: Fire users can only light a damp cigarette butt, while Wood users can barely force mutated wild vegetables to ripen. Yet every faction sees them as the key to changing the world.
