Collected Works of Chen Tuan

Chen Tuan (pinyin tuán), whose courtesy name was Tunan, nicknamed Fuyaozi, and nicknamed "Mr. Baiyun" and "Mr. Xiyi", was a famous Taoist scholar and health care expert in the Northern Song Dynasty. He respected the teachings of Huang and Lao. In the second year of Qingtai in the later Tang Dynasty (935), he lived in seclusion in Jiushiyan, Wudang Mountain. He is the author of monographs such as "Fetal Breath Jue" and "Zhixuan Pian". In the fourth year of Tianfu's reign (939) in the later Jin Dynasty, he traveled to Mount Emei to give lectures, and was named "Emei Zhenren". He is the author of "Guan Kong Chapter" and so on. He also worshiped Ma Yi Taoist as his teacher and engaged in the study of "Yi". He wrote "Ma Yi Taoist Zhengyi Xinfa Annotation", "Yi Long Diagram Preface", "Tai Chi Yin and Yang Theory", "Tai Chi Diagram" and "Xiantian Square and Circle Diagram", etc. Most of the works that are now circulated are named after them. In July of the second year of Duangong, Chen Tuan passed away in the Zhangchao Valley Stone Chamber in Huashan at the age of 118.
