On a ferry bound for a remote island, solitary traveler Zhao Yue Ren happens to share a ride with high school student Hamasaki Misaki, who is on her way home. They assume they’ll have nothing more to do with each other once they disembark, but fate has other plans.
The ferry sinks after a collision, and the crew and passengers flee in lifeboats. Misaki is thrown into the sea by the impact. Yue Ren dives in to save her, but the lifeboats fail to spot them, leaving the two of them stranded in the vast ocean, where sharks are circling.
They’re in dire straits! But Yue Ren is a renowned “survival master” in the great outdoors, a professional survival expert.
He uses whatever materials he can find to build a raft, reinforces it with driftwood, collects rainwater, distills fresh water using the sun’s heat, gets vitamins from plankton, and turns the fish he catches into preserved food. Yue Ren and Misaki do everything they can to stay alive.
But their efforts seem to mock them as one trial after another arises. And with a typhoon approaching, the sea grows increasingly turbulent.
As they live together in the raft, a confined space in a sense, talk, and work together to face their desperate situation, a special feeling begins to grow between them...
Can they survive against all odds and make it back to society?
