Li Hongjun was reborn on the eve of his gambling debt. He polished his ancestral double-barreled shotgun in the dark, took his old dog Daqing into the mountains to hunt down the first roe deer, and quietly paid off the old debt. From then on, he went into the mountains every day before dawn, relying on his accurate marksmanship and mountain driving experience to hunt wild boars, trap rabbits, and pick wild ginseng. He exchanged his prey for food stamps and silently improved his family situation. The mother keeps cloth shoes with thousand-layer soles, the father secretly hides half a bottle of sorghum wine to reward his son, and the sister always carries pine nuts roasted by her brother in her pocket. Daqing has gradually grown from a single dog to a "dog gang". The four hounds are divided into four hounds: containment, sniffing and warning, which has become a scene in the village. The story details the scenes of peeling birch bark to make a fire, stewing sauerkraut and blood sausage, and the fireworks of dogs chasing foxes in the snow. The conflict ended with the villagers jealous and chewing their tongues, but was resolved by Li Hongjun's hot pot of pig-killing vegetables. In the cycle of four seasons, the gifts of the mountains and forests and the laughter of family members weave a long and warm scroll of the mountains and villages in Northeast China in the 1980s.
