Ji Nanxu's Fourth Book

“Wei Xuan, let's break up.” Lin Yuwei tossed the money I'd spent six months saving to buy her a necklace into the mud. “Young Master Zhou's villa is a hundred times better than your leaky shack.” I crouched to pick up the cash. Mud from beneath my fingernails smeared across the hundred-yuan bills. Suddenly, I heard a crack from the roof beam. A piece of green jade fell from a hidden compartment, and the moment I touched it, a burst of golden light exploded before my eyes: a spirit spring, medicinal fields, and a yellowed copy of the Divine Farmer's Medical Canon.

Three days later, wild ginseng grown with the spirit spring cured the old county secretary whom even the county hospital had given up on. Five days later, the cold-faced arbitrator Long Xiaoyan confronted me by my medicinal fields, claiming my jade pendant was the “Token of the Medicine King.” Ten days later, Lin Yuwei came crying at my door, saying Zhou Mingyuan was no good in bed...

I smiled as I stroked the jade pendant.

They all think I'm farming?

No. I'm cultivating the very peak of the medical world.
