[Historical Romance] [BE] [Angst] The Buddha Bell Calamity
Xiao Mingluan first meets the Buddhist monk Jialuo at Yanmen Pass, where a broken Buddhist bell becomes the beginning of their bond. She teases him with a silver bell and sweet pastries. Though Jialuo keeps the precepts, he cannot hide the stirrings of his heart, and feelings begin to grow between them.
They meet again in Chang’an. Jialuo’s prayer beads shatter as he protects Mingluan, and their emotions collide fiercely in the meditation room. But a curse on Jialuo, “If he falls in love, a nation will perish,” leaves them torn by inner conflict. When war breaks out, Mingluan steals a military dispatch and joins the campaign. Jialuo follows the army, risking his life to protect her on the battlefield. Yet when the curse takes hold, he has no choice but to push away the woman he loves.
After the defeat, Mingluan is ordered to marry abroad. By imperial decree, Jialuo presides over the ceremony and personally sends her to a foreign land. From then on, Jialuo remains forever at the Buddhist pagoda, while Mingluan lives far away in another country, able to entrust her longing only to half a string of prayer beads and a lock of hair.
A century later, an archaeological discovery reveals the secret of the Buddha bell, and Jialuo and Mingluan meet again in another life. When the bell rings, their hearts stir. This time, can they rewrite the ending fate has dealt them?
