Beyond Truth and Lies

[Not a wish-fulfillment story, no mindless protagonist, no invincible hero. A little infinite-flow, a touch of Lovecraftian elements, and a somewhat ensemble cast.]

More than a hundred years ago, the Illusory World invaded the Real World. After wave upon wave of battles between the real and the unreal, reality was left in tatters. As many nations struggled to hold on, Huaxia deliberately let the Illusory World in, gambling everything in a desperate bid to survive. To everyone's surprise, Huaxia won that gamble.

A handful of people in Huaxia gained the power of the Illusory World. To stop other countries from bringing in that same power, the creatures of the Illusory World launched a war at any cost. When it was over, Huaxia was the only one left standing, and it had paid a terrible price.

Both sides spent a century recovering. The people of Huaxia returned to normal life, while many who wielded the power of the Illusory World were trained. These people, known as the Unillusory, formed an organization called the Lantern Bearers. They exist to resist the Illusory, remain unknown to the public, and appear only when people need them.

And so the story of the future begins...

But is this real or false?

Remember: the Illusory will be an eternal night, without a single ray of light.

And we will illuminate that darkness and drive out the Illusory!
