Ning Zhuo was an ordinary college student in the chemistry department in the twenty-first century, a model citizen by every measure.
He had just taken part in a debate over whether “money can do anything” or “money can't do everything.” Arguing in favor of the first position, he had silenced the opposing team with a single retort: “Without money, you wouldn't even qualify to stand here and debate me.” Their faces flushed red, they were left speechless.
After the debate, he arranged to meet his beautiful girlfriend and head to a hotel to celebrate with a little applause. Then a drunk teenage biker came hurtling straight at him, utterly heedless of his own life.
In an instant, Ning Zhuo lost consciousness.
When he opened his eyes again, he had become a nineteen-year-old man in the Great Chu Dynasty who shared his name.
In this life, Ning Zhuo was the only son of Ning Shaoqian, an assistant prefect in Suizhou. He had come to take up his post in Suizhou with his father and a concubine.
But his father discovered that Lu Quan, the governor of Suizhou, had joined forces with a frontier general to sell military weapons to the Great Chu Dynasty's enemy, the nomadic Qili Khanate. He also possessed irrefutable proof that Lu Quan and the frontier general Qin Shijie were colluding with the enemy and betraying their country.
With nowhere else to turn, Lu Quan seized the chance when Ning Zhuo went hunting with his guards and sent his men to capture him, hoping to use him to threaten his father.
But while fleeing in panic, Ning Zhuo took a wrong turn and was abducted by the young master of Black Wolf Stronghold, the largest bandit gang on Mount Daliang, which lay between the Great Chu Dynasty and the Qili Khanate. They dragged him off to become their stronghold's husband.
And so the terrified Ning Zhuo was carried up to the bandits' lair.
Fortunately, the System arrived just in time.
In the end, Ning Zhuo uses his silver tongue to take over the stronghold and kill his enemies. He sits the imperial examinations and enters the halls of government. He battles corrupt officials and crushes foreign threats.
He ascends the throne.
Historical novel. There are gold fingers, but they are not used much. I like the description of the heroine very much!
