When the Torrential Rain Folded Space

On a stormy night in Hong Kong in 1990, business rising star Su Wanqing suddenly awakens at her father's funeral and discovers that she has returned to a turning point in her life. This time, she holds fragments of memories from the next thirty years: the chemistry competition questions in her rebellious younger sister's schoolbag conceal a technological code; golden watermarks emerge on the diary scraps her ailing mother burns every day; and Lu Chen, the bodyguard as silent as a shadow, hides a signaling device beneath his suit that does not belong to this era.

A gold-plated pocket watch reveals the mystery of time and space: its stopped hands encode a typhoon warning in Morse code, while the cracks in its face reveal reflections of three parallel timelines. When concrete from the Sham Shui Po docks is found to contain nanomaterials decades ahead of their time, when quantum-entangled fluctuations flash across stock-market screens, and when blockchain technology, not due to emerge for another thirty years, appears on condolence donation envelopes, Su Wanqing realizes that this funeral is a carefully designed compass through time and space.

She uses her knowledge of the future to break through one puzzle after another: decoding her father's business empire with chemical equations, predicting covert battles for capital by tracing typhoon paths, and piecing together espionage riddles from the patterns of silk in a cheongsam workshop. Beneath the neon lights, Hong Kong's undercurrents are stirring. A demolition order for Kowloon Walled City uncovers scientific secrets spanning a century, while a miniature chip hidden in her mother's white magnolia brooch could change the history of human communications.

As Causeway Bay's neon lights overlap with holographic projections from 2046, and two versions of Lu Chen face off with contracts from different eras, Su Wanqing stands atop Victoria Peak, overlooking Victoria Harbour. The countdown to Hong Kong's 1997 handover is about to begin, and the pocket watch in her hand points toward the ultimate choice at the temporal anchor: should she correct the regrets that have shaped three generations, or protect humanity's first experiment in time and space
