He gave up law to study medicine for one reason alone: he wanted to save a girl’s life.
As a law student, he sent the people who had bullied her to prison. As a medical student, all he wanted was to save his girl.
Sadly, he spent his whole life trying, but the girl in the hospital bed never showed any signs of waking.
As he grew older, his mind was no longer as sharp as it used to be. Little by little, he gave up and simply stayed by her side in silence.
He stayed with her for the rest of his life.
What he didn’t know was that the girl had already awakened, in her dreams and in her heart.
That year, she returned to her high school days and saw the bright, gentle boy in his school uniform once again.
She also saw him as a young man, standing tall in court, eloquently defending people’s rights with youthful confidence.
At last, she saw him in old age, with white hair, a wrinkled face, a white doctor’s coat, and reading glasses, looking as if he were near the end of his days.
Only then did she gradually realize that thirty years had passed, yet she still looked exactly as she had back then, forever young, as though she had never aged.
Later, after An Yanze died at the age of 57, she woke up.
She woke in the year after An Yanze’s death.
I will finish writing this book. Everyone is welcome to read it.
