Reborn: I Make My Childhood Friend the Empress of a Fallen Nation

I was the Great Zhou's divine general, Tian Ce, invincible throughout my life and famed for my unparalleled achievements. All I wanted was to keep safe my childhood sweetheart, to whom I was betrothed.

She ascended the throne and ruled the empire, yet just as I returned victorious from battle, she announced that she would marry a commoner. I drew my sword and entered the court, exposing her lover as a Yuan spy. In shame, the spy killed himself.

Three years later, the empress convicted my Chen family of treason on fabricated charges. All 360 members of my family, young and old, were executed at the Meridian Gate. Blood stained the earth, heads rolled, and resentment filled the air.

I was bound in the court and executed by a thousand cuts. They carved me to pieces, tore out my heart and liver, then hung my head above the city gate to dry.

I came back to life on the day I returned victorious from battle. Standing in the court, I heard the empress announce that she would marry the Yuan spy.

This time, I would no longer endure it. I would make my childhood sweetheart, the empress, pay!
