[Two male leads + marriage first, love later + substitute + reunion after a long separation + rekindled love + coercive romance]
Memories are a sour apricot, and you are my bruise.
Emotionally detached genius x cool, aloof beauty
Two strong-willed leads face off, with intense push and pull and a bittersweet blend of angst and sweetness
To secure a share of his father’s company, Lin Zaixi takes on a special case: he enters the situation himself to treat Jiang Yan, a genius pianist who has lost the ability to perceive emotions.
During their contract marriage, Lin Zaixi gradually guides Jiang Yan toward recognizing his emotions and teaches him the intimacy of a romantic relationship. But as they spend every day together, Lin Zaixi falls for him.
At first, Jiang Yan follows instructions mechanically. Then, little by little, he regains his ability to feel, and begins to rediscover the emotions he had lost through Lin Zaixi. Lin Zaixi seems to be the switch that triggers his feelings, letting the once cold-hearted man experience worry, heartache, and the fear of losing someone for the first time…
Just as they are caught up in the flutter of an almost-romance, one problem after another comes their way: Song An secretly drugs someone, a senior stirs up trouble between them, Lin Zaixi’s father suddenly becomes critically ill, and a power grab years in the making is about to erupt… In the end, Lin Zaixi leaves without a second thought, leaving Jiang Yan with divorce papers.
Years later, Lin Zaixi returns to the country after his bid for control fails.
When they meet again after years apart, Jiang Yan has become a rising force in business. Driven by his obsessive love, he uses every means at his disposal to keep Lin Zaixi by his side, expressing the love in his heart through possession and torment.
“This time, I’m paying to buy you. Would you call that revenge?”
One believes the other hates him to the bone; the other believes he was never loved at all. Misunderstanding leads them to hurt each other as they test and tug at one another, their love tinged with heartache.
Most of the middle are memories, and the ending is a little quick. Most of the foreshadowing in the book is explained in the last chapter. Overall, it feels good. It is a pity that there are no fragments of daily life after reconciliation.
The writing is very good. It doesn't feel like a novel in Tomato. Although the connection between the paragraphs is not particularly smooth, the flaws are not hidden ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ The ending is a bit too rushed🤔
The details are perfect, it's really beautiful, and the scenery is great
