The Legendary Life of Su Zhi

In the fifteenth year of the Great Zhou dynasty, Su Zhi, the legitimate daughter of the Su family, is a brilliant talent, yet confined to the inner quarters.

When her mother falls gravely ill with no cure in sight and her family’s prospects begin to crumble, she binds her hair, dons a robe, and assumes the name “Su Mingyuan” to enter the domain of men.

At the imperial examinations, her mastery of two styles of calligraphy puts an end to accusations of using a proxy. She takes top honors in all three examinations and makes a name for herself in the capital.

Before the Ministry of Justice, she follows the clues to solve a shocking corruption case, earning an imperial appointment as a sixth-rank secretary.

Amid the flames of war on the northern frontier, she outmaneuvers the enemy and cuts off their supplies. A single military strategy drives the northern invaders back a thousand miles.

In the palace’s web of intrigue, she uses a silver needle to neutralize poison and expose a plot to assassinate the empress, then faces a princess’s murderous intent!

Her identity is exposed, and the death penalty for deceiving the emperor hangs over her head!

Together with Zhao Mo, the hidden eldest imperial prince, she braves life and death. At the brink of death from poison, she receives a secret martial arts inheritance and uses her wits to unravel the chancellor’s vast conspiracy to betray the country and usurp the throne.

The emperor personally pardons her, making an unprecedented exception to allow her to serve at court as a woman. She opens a women’s academy to teach and spread knowledge, reforms the Imperial Medical Bureau to benefit the people, and writes The Washing Away of Wrongs, a beacon of justice!

From the women’s quarters to the imperial throne hall, from a prisoner’s cart to the Qilin Pavilion,

she wields her pen like a sword, breaking the shackles of her age, and becomes a celebrated female minister.

When peace returns to the land, she and her beloved retire after achieving great things. At the foot of Zhongnan Mountain, they heal the world with their medical skills,

leaving behind an enduring legend: “Her wisdom and courage astounded the court; her womanly grace brought order to all under heaven!”
