“Becoming an official is a choice made by oneself, by the people, and by the Emperor.”
“But if you want to cultivate immortality and become an immortal master, only Heaven can choose you.”
Those chosen by people are naturally far less exalted than those chosen by Heaven.
How exalted?
When ordinary people fall into hardship and seek an immortal master's help, they must offer incense in service.
Yet this incense offering is paid for with the lives of countless common people.
Three hundred years into the Great Yu dynasty, Lu Anian, a down-and-out corpse hauler, braves the wind and snow to save people with his needles.
Later, he travels tens of millions of miles to Taian City and points his sword at the Imperial Observatory. He does so only to fulfill the promise he made to the Human Ancestor: to draw the divine weapon suppressing the Great Yu Imperial Observatory from beneath it.
Where does this young man's courage come from? What does he seek?
Lu Anian answers loudly:
“Borrow me three thousand swords from the mortal world, and I'll pluck a hundred thousand immortals from the dynasty.”
