The story begins with a series of brutal murders in Jiangzhou City. All the victims are young women, and their deaths are horrific. Veteran criminal police captain Lin Zheng takes charge of the case. He once lost his partner in an anti-drug operation, and ever since, he has been cold, taciturn, and ruthless in his investigations. Chen Hao, a young officer fresh out of the academy, is assigned to assist him. At first, Lin Zheng thinks Chen Hao lacks experience, while Chen Hao sees Lin Zheng as domineering and arbitrary. Neither trusts the other.
As the investigation deepens, they discover that the killer has exceptional counter-surveillance skills and has left almost no clues at the crime scenes. But Chen Hao uses his natural talent to spot subtle connections, gradually earning Lin Zheng’s respect. The two begin working together in perfect sync. Following the clues, they track the killer to an abandoned factory, where they unexpectedly uncover records about an old case from many years ago, which seems to be intricately connected to the current string of murders.
