Synopsis

The Jade-Fate Knot

What is fate? Fate comes in greater and lesser measure, but it is never right or wrong. Protecting a flower or blade of grass is fate, and catching fish and shrimp is also fate. Passing each other by is fate, and spending a lifetime together is also fate. Fate comes and goes, bringing partings and reunions; it gathers and scatters, giving rise to love, hate, and all their tangled affairs. This is a story about how one grows by sensing and understanding all that life has to offer.

The protagonist, Lin Yu, is unafraid of life's hardships. Yet, because of an old wish and a tribulation of the heart, his thoughts give rise to inner demons. In the end, he lets go of love, hate, and all their entanglements, sees through the illusory nature of all things, releases his attachments, understands his true nature, attains genuine wisdom, and seeks peace of mind.
