A Journey to Another World That Begins with Korean Variety Shows

A debut work. Feedback is welcome.

He didn’t belong in this world. In his former life, a pandemic ruined his investment and left him drowning in debt. After working hard for ten years to pay it all off, an accident sent him plunging into a river. When he opened his eyes again, he had arrived in a strange new world, his soul inhabiting a child on the verge of death after a car accident. With no one to rely on, he was adopted by his older aunt. Later, he discovered that he was in a marvelous world where countless film and television universes converged. To survive and repay his aunt’s kindness, he used his adult soul to work hard for a position at a training institute. But the arrival of his biological father, Shi Dongchu, shattered his peaceful life. As the boss of Seoul’s Inho gang, Shi Dongchu’s appearance threatened to undo ten years of hard work. Perhaps he needed an outlet for all the emotions he had bottled up, or perhaps something in his blood had awakened. Little by little, he grew ruthless and decisive, becoming the “Tomb Tiger,” a figure feared throughout Chinatown. He remembered how his aunt had once brought his uncle and a whole crowd of subordinates to give Shi Dongchu a thorough beating when he came to claim his son. Shi Dongchu seemed to feel guilty and didn’t fight back. At the time, Ma Jing had no warmth for this father who had suddenly appeared, but still, out of basic concern, he warned him to be careful before driving him out of Chinatown. Who could have guessed that just a few years later, news would arrive of his death?
