In the autumn of the twelfth year of Zhenguan, Emperor Taizong of the Tang Dynasty, corresponding to the month of Xuanzhen in the ancient Zhuanxu calendar, the story takes place in the Wuxian tribe deep in the Taihang Mountains, where a Neolithic stone altar is preserved.
