My Years as a Substitute Corpse

I've had a strange constitution since childhood. I've never felt like myself.

Only later did I learn that my soul had been cut into seven pieces and taken to prolong someone else's life.

I'm alive, but I'm nothing more than a “vessel for a borrowed life.”

I don't burn incense, worship Buddha, or accept my fate.

But they insist I take someone else's place.

The Incense Hall hunts me down, the Contract Debtors strip me bare, and the Life Hunters want my soul returned to the System.

But who says a madman can't strike back?

I won't take another's place, extend a soul, enter the Incense Hall, or be anyone's vessel.

From the moment I burned the ledger of borrowed lives, the entire System of the Incense Hall began hunting me down.

I'm not afraid.

Because when I go mad, I'm even willing to burn myself!
