Ding-dong! Your delivery is here!”
Chen Yang looked up from his computer and rubbed his sore, tired eyes. He glanced at the time in the bottom-right corner of the screen: 2:17 a.m. Raindrops tapped against the window, pattering softly.
“Coming!” he called, dragging his exhausted body toward the door.
The instant he opened it, a cold wind mixed with rain swept over him. Chen Yang shivered and reached out to take the plastic bag from the delivery driver. Strangely, the driver didn't leave right away. He just stared at Chen Yang.
“Is something wrong?” Chen Yang asked with a frown.
The delivery driver's face looked especially pale in the dim light of the hallway. His lips trembled, and his voice was hoarse. “D-do you hear something?”
Chen Yang froze and listened carefully. Apart from the rain and the occasional honk of a car in the distance, nothing seemed out of the ordinary. “Hear what?”
“It's like... some kind of alarm.” The driver's gaze darted around. “It's been ringing in my head ever since just now...”
Chen Yang was about to say something when a wave of dizziness suddenly washed over him. The delivery driver's figure began to warp before his eyes. He instinctively grabbed the doorframe, only to find his hand passing right through it, as if it weren't there at all.
“What's happening?” Chen Yang stared at his hand in horror, then looked at the driver, whose expression was just as shocked.
