This is a detailed introduction to the Dark Abyss arc, a side story of Mo Yan Chang Ming Jin. Please read Mo Yan Chang Ming Jin for the full story.
The Canglan Continent's grand cultivation landscape is built around "Nine Realms, Eight Wilds, Four Domains, Three Spaces, and Two Star Rivers." At its heart lies the Heavenly Law Realm, the hub of the Heavenly Dao. The Heavenly Dao Sect commands the art of divination, while the Aotian Clan, with its Heavenly Thunder Spirit Root, guards the Golden Wilds. The four central realms of Ye Zhu gather forces such as the Jiangnan clans and the Ink Trace Sect. The Ten Great Sects encompass diverse paths of cultivation, including spell cultivation, Confucian cultivation, and artifact cultivation. The Nine Sacred Lands safeguard the inheritance of laws such as formations and sword intent. In the main Demon Realm, nineteen demon tribes, including those bearing the bloodlines of spirit dragons, ink phoenixes, and nine-tailed foxes, divide the territory among themselves and face off against human forces across the realm boundaries. Of the Two Star Rivers, the River of Life governs the laws of origin, while the River of Death gathers the remnants of destroyed souls. The forces of the Dark Abyss are stirring.
The central figure, Tang Zeye, is the sole surviving direct descendant of the reclusive Tang Clan, and possesses a Heavenly Metal Spirit Root. He bears the dual inheritances of the Devouring Abyss Demon Venerable and the Heavenly Dragon divine beast, as well as a Divine Yang Physique. Wielding the magical weapon "Frostglaze," he can shake the Nine Realms with a single sword strike. Ji Linchuan, daughter of the ancient Heavenly Sage Holy Land's master and the foremost cultivator of the Tribulation Transcendence stage, has a Heavenly Thunder Spirit Root and the greatest affinity for the laws in history. She becomes Tang Zeye's cultivation partner.
