Black Blade: The Original Sin of Genes

“In 2035, amid the scorched ruins of Sileye, Luo Zheng's tactical visor locks onto a hostage cage three kilometers away. A former ‘Hawkeye’ sniper with the Wolf Fang unit, he can pinpoint a heartbeat from 4,000 meters away. But this time, the ‘hostages’ in his scope have eerie fluorescent markings appearing on their necks: the sign of bioweapon test subjects. The encrypted chip left behind by his fiancée suddenly activates inside Old Ghost's mechanical prosthetic arm, projecting a hologram. A blood-red warning sears itself into their vision: ‘The people you rescued aren't hostages. They're living vessels of the original sin of genetics.’ Even more deadly, the holographic system in the eyes of Nightingale, the National Intelligence Bureau expert who's supposed to be supporting the mission, flashes an AI surveillance alert: ‘Abort the mission, or the entire team will become the 79th batch of test subjects.’ As a micro-rocket launcher springs from Old Ghost's mechanical prosthetic and an exoskeleton mech tears through a concrete wall beneath the ruins, Luo Zheng rests his finger on the trigger and suddenly realizes: this rescue mission has been a trap from the very start. And the enemy he must face may be an AI puppet commander controlling the battlefield with Longguo tactics... Should he pull the trigger and kill the mutants, or tear open the conspiracy wrapped in the guise of ‘justice’? This shot will decide whether humanity must pay for the ‘original sin of genetics.’”
