But Ellsworth, as the protagonist, is obviously an "alien". His character flaws were not quickly repaired during the unfolding of the story, so some of the things he did will make readers feel a little resentful or "hate iron but not steel". I admire the author for his courage to try to create such a protagonist.
At first, Ellsworth reminded me of the male protagonist Sakima Kamiki in Nikkei's "Confessions of Mimosa". The two have many similarities in character, such as insensitivity to interpersonal relationships, poor grasp of distance from the opposite sex, willingness to dig deep for friends, and some weakness in character. Back to the topic, this book is roughly about An Siyuan misjudged Tian Shui's feelings for him, fell in love with Su Ming after being cruelly and coldly dumped, determined to be a gentle and kind person to win Su Ming's love, and then was completely betrayed by Su Ming, and gradually "blackened" into a "evil" under Lan Ruoyou's teaching and transformation. As the story unfolds, Ellsworth's character flaws are slowly revealed to everyone: he fails to correctly understand the meaning of gentleness and kindness, does many unnecessary "good deeds", and does not care about his family; he is too weak in character, taking jobs that many people deliberately push to him because they think he is selfless, and his attitude towards Su Ming is always half-hearted; he is easily fooled Emotions drive him to his head, and his judgment is insufficient.
