Cheng Wan is sold for two liang of silver to a sickly man as a good-luck bride, only to be sent back in disgrace.
Her parents are crybabies, she has three young sisters, and there’s also a badly wounded man who’s lame and has lost his memory.
Her grandmother is mean and favors boys over girls, while her overbearing aunt forces her parents to split from the family.
She makes a living by farming, helping her timid parents and young sisters eat meat at every meal.
With her space, she grows more food than they can eat, improves the soil, cultivates seedlings, grows spices, opens shops, and hires workers, until everyone in the village can afford to eat meat.
Her business reaches the capital, and she leads the whole village to prosperity.
The lame, amnesiac man she once saved turns out to be the legendary regent.
He’s not only overbearing, but generous too.
With all her belongings in tow, she heads to the capital to make a name for herself.
Her business keeps growing,
and her circle keeps expanding.
I can really see how difficult it is for the heroine to start a business with her family behind her. We have a hard time raising just one child, while others have six children, big and small. . . The heroine's tenacity creates a future for herself! Well written!
It's a very interesting book. Everyone has different personality traits.
