[Not a wish-fulfillment story + not a chaste romance + not exclusive devotion + a touch of ensemble cast + no golden finger + not an everyday-life story]
By the time Rong Wenshu rises from embroiderer to imperial consort, the palace is in full bloom.
By the time she rises from junior attendant to empress dowager, all the people she once knew are gone.
She has witnessed every scheme and conspiracy along the way.
If you ask her how she became empress dowager, she'll say:
“Everyone should sweep the snow from their own doorstep, and leave the frost on another's roof alone.”
P.S. Despite the title, this isn't an everyday-life story. I can't write that kind of thing.
It's more of an ensemble story, and the heroine may not appear for several chapters at a time.
The heroine is clever, but not so clever that she can look down on everyone. She has little presence in the harem, and when she's targeted, all she can do is hide in her own palace. But the author is very protective of her, so she does have a bit of a protagonist's halo. If you don't like this setup, please don't read.
The emperor is a scumbag. Don't harbor any illusions about him!
There are transmigrators, people who transmigrate into a book, reborn characters, and a System, but none of them is the heroine.
