The jianghu has three treasures: the Azure Moon, also known as The Carefree Record of the Azure Moon; the Rainbow Shock Sword; and the Soul-Severing Saber. Each treasure hides a terrible calamity of its own.
People of the jianghu say, “When the sword breaks, the divine art dies. When the Soul-Severing Saber appears...” Did that sword truly make the prophecy come true?
Twenty years ago, Xue Hun, wielder of one of the jianghu's three treasures, the Rainbow Shock Sword, was traveling with his family and infant son when they stopped at a small inn amid a northern snowstorm. There, the second of the Twin Souls of the Demonic Shadow, “Demon Tianhong,” deceived them. The couple met their bitter end beneath his Fish Intestine Sword. Their son was then rescued by Granny Ten Thousand Poisons, who withdrew with him to a secluded mountain retreat and named him Xue Huan, teaching him all her martial arts.
The wind scatters the white sun, and time races westward. In the blink of an eye, another twenty years have passed. Xue Huan enters the jianghu with his sword, invincible against all comers. Along the way, he makes many friends and meets many enchanting maidens. Yet deep in his heart lingers a beautiful figure: the fairy-like elder sister who practiced martial arts and swordsmanship with him in the mountains. But the jianghu is vast. Where is she?
Daoist Xianyuan once said, “The friends you trust most are often your deadliest enemies.” His words proved prophetic when he met his sudden end at the hands of his own friend. Will Xue Huan also be unable to escape this calamity?
Xue Huan's enemies are Li Tianlong and “Demon Tianhong,” while the jianghu's greatest enemy is the Envoy from Beyond the Demonic Realm. But who is this envoy, and where can he be found? That is the most terrifying calamity of all. If it cannot be averted, the jianghu will once again be plunged into a world where “a bitter wind sweeps in, and the white bones rustle and howl beneath the darkened sky.”
