Synopsis

"Drunken Spring Breeze" is a Qing Dynasty vernacular novel about worldly affairs, also known as "The Misfortune of Yourself". The story revolves around Zhang Jiansheng, a son of a wealthy family, and his wife Gu Sanniang. Due to her indulgence at a young age and unwilling to be lonely, Sanniang fell into the abyss of promiscuity step by step, causing the family to fall apart. Zhang Jiansheng's transformation from a playboy to a awakening is in sharp contrast to the tragedy of Sanniang's fall to death, and the concubine Zhao Yuer's choice to stick to her true heart in the face of adversity adds a desolate background to the story. The novel exposes the survival plight of women under feudal ethics with a spicy writing style, and explores the eternal propositions of desire and morality, indulgence and redemption. The characters in the book are vivid and the plot is ups and downs. It not only provides a vivid description of various situations in the market, but also provides a profound insight into the subtleties of human nature.
