Back in High School, I Awaken the God-Tier Top Student System From the Start

As the first rays of morning sunlight pierced the curtains, I received the breakup message. Just as expected, my past self was still the “failure” who had flunked the college entrance exam. Reborn on the first day of freshman year, I was dealt a resounding slap by fate from the start.

The System came to me at noon. There were no dazzling golden effects, only a string of cold task prompts and a progress bar. It said I was its final Host, but all I wanted was to take control of my own life again. Starting with the most basic math formulas, I gradually lit up the map of knowledge, one point at a time. Functions, which once seemed so daunting, became the first obstacle I had to clear. But the real world wouldn’t go easy on me just because I’d bound myself to a System. Being at the bottom of the class made every step difficult. The teachers had no faith in me, my classmates didn’t trust me, and even my parents thought I’d lose interest after three minutes.

The turning point came with a monthly exam. I quietly worked through problems and corrected my mistakes again and again, guided by the System out of the mire of ineffective studying. The day my name appeared on the list of the top fifty students in my grade, I felt for the first time that hard work could bring real results. But it came at a cost: my mental energy was depleted, my emotions swung wildly, and I even triggered the System’s “cooldown period,” which forced me to suspend all assistance. Growth is never a straight upward climb; it means stumbling forward.

If a life lived over again is still full of struggles and choices, can we hold on to the faith we had at the beginning?
