Legends of the Desert Storm

In troubled times, the world is a furnace, and the human heart is what gets refined.

During the reign of Emperor Xiaowen of Northern Wei, the Hu and Han peoples mingled, while Buddhists and Daoists debated. Some sought wealth and status in this age of strife, others sought immortality. Lou Xiaohuan wanted only to stay alive. From the setting sun over Luoyang’s walls to the bloody blades amid the flames of war in the Six Garrisons, he had seen eminent monks debate the Dharma in their scriptures, Daoist priests attain transcendence before their alchemy furnaces, and the filth lurking beneath all that pomp and propriety.

The highest realm of martial arts has never been about techniques. It lies in seeing through the rules and absurdities of this human world. True masters often keep their edge sheathed, just as the Buddha lowers his eyes and Laozi rides his ox. True power has no need to flaunt itself.
