The soul of a foreign girl named Xiaoyu transmigrates by accident, awakening in the corpse of the shrine maiden Kawakami Chihane.
In this perilous ancient Japan, she first encounters the Spider Head. By exploiting the demons' desires and the Shikon Jewel, she manages to escape, briefly crossing paths with Inuyasha and Kikyo.
However, because the plot demands it, she is eventually “accidentally killed” by Naraku, and her soul returns to her dying body in the modern world.
Back in reality, with little time left, Xiaoyu chooses to jump into a river and end her suffering. By chance, however, she returns to the Warring States period in her complete physical form, and is rescued by Kagewaki Hitomi, the young lord of Hitomi Castle. There, she meets his strategist, Naraku. A crisis of unknown origin forces Xiaoyu to flee the castle in panic, separating her from Kagewaki Hitomi forever.
When Naraku appears before Inuyasha wearing Kagewaki Hitomi's skin and concealing his face, how will Xiaoyu feel? And when she accidentally wanders back into Hitomi Castle, how will Naraku react?
Xiaoyu knows all too well how cruel and untrustworthy Naraku is. But perhaps fate has brought them together, or perhaps she has glimpsed an echo of something buried deep within the twisted roots of his being. She chooses her path: to protect the light within her heart amid the shadows of darkness, and seek out the faintest possibility of hope.
Naraku repeatedly tests, uses, and hurts Xiaoyu, trying to destroy or control this “accident.”
Driven by her instinct to survive, Xiaoyu struggles on, her kindness and resolve put to the cruelest tests.
Every clash leaves a crack in Naraku's heart. Xiaoyu is like a thorn in his side, making him taste the unfamiliar sensation called “pain,” a pain that concerns only her.
It feels okay.
