A Night Shrouded in Mist

When night falls like an enormous sheet of black silk, quietly covering the city's streets and alleys, crime takes root and spreads beneath the darkness. Chen Mo, a seasoned detective with the city’s criminal investigation unit, wears a simple black suit. His eyes are as sharp as an eagle's as he searches the dark for the slightest trace of wrongdoing. Born into a family of police officers, he is constantly driven to uphold the dignity of the law by the shadow of his father's death in the line of duty, hanging over him like the sword of Damocles.

Chen Mo's adversary is Sun Batian, head of a criminal syndicate. This man is like a fiendish beast crawling out of hell, with a hulking frame and a hideous scar across his face that seems like a badge of his crimes. He treats the law as though it were nothing and seeks to build an evil empire in the city's darkest corners. He has orchestrated numerous robberies and smuggling operations, plunging the public into endless fear.

Chen Mo encounters one obstacle after another as he investigates. The betrayal of certain factions within the police station is like a tangle of thorns lurking in the shadows, constantly obstructing his inquiry. Yet a turning point always comes when all seems most hopeless. His partner, Zhou Yu, is like a sword that never stops charging forward. Even after being injured, he remains at his post, inspiring Chen Mo. Forensic doctor Lin Yue, meanwhile, is like a beacon, using her professional expertise to provide crucial clues and help Chen Mo find a way past the impasse.

But the road to the truth is never smooth. To expose Sun Batian's crimes, Chen Mo has no choice but to break with convention and work with informants, paying a terrible price in the process. Once a man devoted solely to evidence, he now finds himself wavering on the boundary between justice and morality.
