The Backrooms: A Wandering Survivor

[The Backrooms] [Mystery] [Villain] [No System] A stark, spatial narrative, a close-up of morally gray humanity, and a distinctly internet-native pace. Told from a Villain's perspective, the story reveals the cruelty and unknown dangers of the mysterious world of the Backrooms. Its rules never pity the brave or make room for the weak. Rather than following a detective or a victim, the story stays with a character who is “not entirely innocent” as they venture deeper into the Backrooms, caught between the roles of “mastermind” and “one who unravels the plot.” Visuals come first: space, not time, provides the suspense. The story largely avoids the traditional mystery timeline of “crime, flashback, solution,” instead embedding its puzzles in room layouts, shifting lights, and cracks in the wallpaper. The main cast has no purely good people: some betray their teammates to save themselves, others exploit loopholes in the rules to “game the system,” and even the “Villain's perspective” keeps questioning, “Am I the hunter or the prey?” This moral ambiguity means the suspense is about more than “Who is the culprit?” It also asks, “Could I become one?”

This is based on the W version, with a few ideas of my own added. This is a future version of the Backrooms, with technology and characters who have “superpowers.” Of course, those powers come from being altered by Backrooms technology. Sorry if any of this is a dealbreaker for you.
