The Two-Faced Plot of Xianyang

The Double-Faced Schemer of Xianyang tells the story of Zhao Heng, a commoner who leads a double life after infiltrating the Court of Judicial Review during the reign of the First Emperor. He enters government through a courageous deed, earning trust with his diligence and gentlemanly bearing, while secretly serving as a Wei spy. He exploits Ying Yu's affection to win her trust and steal secrets such as frontier defenses and grain reserves. He also frames colleagues and merchants, fabricates evidence, and spreads rumors to sow chaos. To obtain even more intelligence, he even proposes to Ying Yu. In the end, his plot is exposed. Faced with overwhelming evidence, Zhao Heng denies everything, but is still subjected to all five punishments and torn apart by chariots in public. His crimes as a double agent are finally brought to justice, and Xianyang returns to relative calm.
