On the Run with His Child: The Purehearted General and His Fickle Young Widow

A cold-hearted, rugged general × a sharp-tongued, delicate young widow

[Both leads are sexually inexperienced + farming + conceiving a child by borrowing seed + she pursues him at first + slice of life]

Han Wanyin is reborn as a bride bought by the Wang family for one tael of silver to bring good fortune. Her husband doesn't survive, and she becomes a widow.

Her mother-in-law calls her a jinx and wants her buried with her husband. Her father-in-law wants to sell her for money, while her eldest brother-in-law covets her body.

To avoid being buried alive, Han Wanyin lies that she might be pregnant and escapes disaster. The moment she sees Huo Er (Huo Zheng), who's just returned to the village, she decides to borrow his seed. She flirts with him, tempts him, teases him, and sleeps with him...

For years, Huo Zheng has lived alone, with no one to feed but himself. He never thought of marrying or having children.

But he falls for her, the woman who suddenly barges into his life.

Knowing she deliberately sought him out, seduced him, and flirted with him, he fights down his growing desire and rejects her stiffly and coldly. He watches her leave in disappointment, then hopes every day that she'll come back.

He willingly becomes her lover, never expecting her to disappear right under his nose.

Huo Zheng loses control. He searches for her for six whole years without finding a trace, never realizing she's been right under his nose all along.

When he hears her tell someone else, “My child's father is dead,” Huo Zheng barges into her bedroom in the middle of the night. “Han Wanyin, when did I die?”
