Tales of Terror from the Ghost Contract

Lin Shen lives an ordinary life until the inexplicable deaths of his parents drag him into endless darkness. His mother hangs herself from an ancient locust tree in Fengmen Village, while his father leaves behind a blood-written message saying, “Don’t touch the bronze mirror,” before setting himself on fire. After inheriting the ancestral Book of Yin Contracts, Lin Shen is forced to make pacts with vengeful ghosts. He gains the ability to communicate with spirits, but becomes trapped in a double crisis involving both the real and supernatural worlds.

As he searches for the truth, Lin Shen encounters a series of uncanny events: the curse of Fengmen Village, blood-written messages in a haunted house, a campus ritual involving a spirit pen, and the outbreak of living corpses in a hospital. He discovers that the Book of Yin Contracts is the “soul-summoning register” of a thousand-year-old ghost official, and that the bronze mirror is the official’s heart. To travel through time, he must also sacrifice a close relative.

To stop the ghost official from being resurrected, Lin Shen transmigrates through time, only to realize that every struggle he makes is turning the wheels of fate. His parents’ deaths and everything he has suffered are all necessary conditions for the ghost official’s birth. In the end, he sacrifices himself to seal the ghost official and becomes the new “Keeper of the Mirror.” But the cycle is not over. A new contract book appears among the fragments, heralding the continuation of the horror.

Blending Chinese folk horror, supernatural curses, and psychological thrills, every chapter features a self-contained paranormal incident alongside clues foreshadowing the main plot, with frequent twists and satisfying payoffs. Follow Lin Shen as he struggles to go from victim to martyr, and experience the uncertainty of fate and the choices that test human nature.
