<Main plot + devoted to each other + woman disguises herself as a man + light mystery + fictional setting>
After waking from a serious illness, Ye Shangzhu unexpectedly gains the ability to see the unseen. She can read fate and foresee life and death, but she only dares to pose as a lowly fortune-teller, bluffing people for a little extra income. She knows all too well that revealing the secrets of heaven too freely brings retribution.
Who would have thought that a careful, law-abiding commoner like her would be hauled into the county offices one day while setting up her usual stall? The prefect tells her she is suspected of fraud and is being arrested under the law.
Ye Shangzhu cries that she is innocent.
Prefect Pei Raojun tells her that if she wants to clear her name, she can use her ability to help him solve a series of baffling cases.
Ye Shangzhu feels she has fallen into a trap, but by then, there is no way to extricate herself.
The main plot takes center stage, and the point of view shifts as the story requires.
(Aside from a few real place names, everything else is entirely fictional, so please don’t take it too seriously!)
