Yin Quan

To put an end to the war, I volunteered to marry Lantan, my childhood friend from the Beastfolk tribe.

My wolf-king husband, wild and untamed, lost control and pinned me to the grass for three days and three nights, leaving me unconscious.

I thought Lantan loved me.

But later, he was the one who personally led a hundred thousand beastfolk soldiers to breach Chang'an's walls.

He grabbed my head and forced me to watch: my father was torn apart by wolves, his head nowhere to be seen. My brother was cut down from his horse and reduced to a bloody pulp.

Those brutes even stripped my mother bare and assaulted her until blood ran down her legs...

Lantan laughed as he asked me, yet there wasn't a trace of feeling in his eyes:

“Yin Quan, did you really think you were so beautiful that you could win my heart?”

“Your royal family slaughtered so many of my people, then sent you alone and actually thought you could make up for this blood feud!”

In the end, Lantan united the realm and took a beloved empress.

He locked me away in the Cold Palace, where I had no title.

Whenever I tried to kill myself, he would dig a corpse out of a tomb and grind it to dust in front of me.

“You are not allowed to die without my permission!”

I stopped resisting.

After all, only three days remained before the poison took my life. I'd eaten a cursed insect to save him all those years ago, and now its poison was finally taking effect...
