After the Buddha Lord Lit the Sky Lantern for His Beloved, He Knelt and Begged Me to Forgive Him

I merely remarked in passing that it was improper for a waitress to wear Western clothes without permission, and my Buddha-faced fiancé turned on me right there. At the auction, he lit the sky-high lantern and bought the only keepsake my mother had lost, then smashed it in front of everyone. "Ye Ruolan, you're a feudal young lady. What makes you think you can tell other people what to do?" "She earns her own living. She's far nobler than a vase like you, kept by your family!" I gritted my teeth and apologized. Only then did he soothe me gently and say he forgave me. After welcoming me into his home, he was tender with me every night, and said he'd cherish me even more once I was carrying his child. But the very day I found out I was pregnant, I came down with consumption. The only thing that could save me was a batch of imported Western medicine at the next auction. He lit the sky-high lantern again. I waited eagerly, hoping he would bring the medicine back. But he returned empty-handed, his voice dripping with sarcasm. "Aren't you the one who looks down on foreign goods? So you wouldn't have to suffer them, I took them to Xin Xin for a foot soak." I smiled. He still didn't know that Zhao Xin had infected me with consumption. And tonight, I would buy every life-saving Western medicine at the auction by lighting the sky-high lantern myself.
