The protagonist, An Linxuan, has just been admitted to Danjiang University. His parents often left home to work when he was young, leaving him alone for long stretches. Over time, he became shy and withdrawn. After getting into university, he applied to live off campus and used money from his part-time job to rent a small house in the suburbs. Danjiang City lies on the eastern coast and is a thriving economic hub.

“Just my luck!” An Linxuan intends to bandage the man’s wounds. After finally working up the nerve to unbutton his clothes, he is suddenly pinned beneath him.
“Who are you? You... you were sent by them too? Let... let go!”
“I... I’m trying to save you!” The man grabs An Linxuan by the throat. Just as he is about to lose consciousness, the man passes out, burning with a dangerously high fever.
“Ugh! Just my luck!” An Linxuan sighs helplessly, forced to spend the night looking after him by the bedside...
The next morning, the man wakes up early, bewildered by everything around him.
“You’re awake. Go home now.”
“I... I can’t remember anything. I really... I really can’t remember a thing,” the man says sadly.
“I... I only remember the words Ao Bing. Maybe that’s my name.” An Linxuan looks at the young man before him, unaware of what kind of story is about to unfold between them...
