The book mainly selects famous works of Yuan sanqu masters, and appropriate excerpts of famous Yuan dramas, such as Yuan Haowen's "Shuang Tiao·Sudden Rain Beats the New Lotus", Guan Hanqing's "Touching the Heaven and Earth about Dou E's Injustice (Third Fold)", Ma Zhiyuan's "Yue Diao·Tianjingsha·Autumn" "Thinking" and so on. In order to reflect the influence of Yuan opera on later generations, there are appendices with three Xiaoling poems from the Ming Dynasty, a set of "Wandering Around the Pond" ("Peony Pavilion·Dream Startling"), and a set of "Ai Jiangnan" ("Peach Blossom Fan·Afterglow") from the Qing Dynasty, a total of one hundred chapters. Yuan opera mostly uses white description to describe the narrative, and the language is humorous, revealing and humorous, and full of "market life atmosphere", which is commonly referred to as "garlic cheese flavor" and "clam flavor". The author annotates and briefly comments on the original text, with a novel perspective and concise language, retaining the interest and purpose of Yuan music to the greatest extent.
